Blank
In poker, the term “blank” usually refers to a card which does not have a significant impact on the strength of your hand or on the potential hands on the board. A blank is a card which seems “useless” or “unexciting” in a given situation, as it does not add new possible hands or improve the hand of any player.
For example, if the following cards are on the board: A♠ K♦ Q♣ 7♦, and the next card dealt down as the river (last community card) is a 2♠, this card could be called a “blank”, as it does not change the strength of the hand on the board. The best hand in this situation remains the A♠ K♦ combination from the first three cards on the board.
Using the term “blank” helps players evaluate the importance of the last card on the board and decide whether it’s worth continuing to play or place bets based on the current strength of their hand and their opponents’ possible hands.
