Draw
In poker, the term “draw” (or “drawing hand”) refers to a hand which may not be strong in itself, but has the potential to become a stronger hand if the player draws the right cards. There are a few types of drawing hands:
1. Straight draw: This is a hand which is one card short of forming a straight (five consecutive cards). If you have, for example, 5-6 in hand, and 7-8-K are on the table, you have a straight draw, as either a 4 or a 9 would give you a straight.
2. Flush draw: You have four cards of the same suit, and you need one more for a flush.
3. Straight flush draw: This is a combination of a straight draw and a flush draw, where you need a card of a specific rank and suit to form a straight flush.
4. Drawing to quads: You have three-of-a-kind (three cards of the same rank), and you need another of the same card for a quad.
