Family Pot
The term “family pot” in poker usually refers to a situation where the majority of or all players at the table stay in the game, meaning they continue taking part in the game after the first betting round. When this situation occurs, the pot becomes a “family pot”, as all “members of the family” (i.e., the players at the table) are taking part.
You’ll usually encounter family pots in friendly or casual games where the players are less competitive and where playing more rounds and enjoying the game are more important. However, in more serious and competitive groups, family pots are much rarer, as the players are more cautious and selective in terms of which hands are worth playing.
