Flop
In poker, especially in types like Texas hold 'em and Omaha hold ‘em, a “flop” means the first three community cards which are dealt onto the table face up after the first betting round (preflop). After the flop is laid out on the table, the second betting round begins.
The flop plays an important role in poker strategy, as it gives the players five of the seven cards (two in their hand and three on the table) that will be used to form their final poker hand. Decisions made during the flop can have a substantial impact on the round’s outcome, as the remaining two cards (the turn and the river) can significantly change the strength of a player’s hand.
Players analyze the flop to determine how it works with their starting hand and try to predict their opponents’ possible hands based on their actions and bets. At the flop stage, the players also evaluate the potential chances of improving their hand (outs and pot-odds) and decide whether to continue participating in the game.
