Hit
In the context of poker, the term “hit” can have several meanings, but it’s most often used to refer to a situation where a player gets the card they need, thereby improving their hand. For example, if a player is waiting for a specific card to complete a straight or a flush and this card appears in the next betting round (on the flop, turn, or river), then you can say that the play has a “hit”.
In other card games, such as blackjack, a “hit” refers to a request for an extra card from the dealer. However, in poker, this term is most often used in the above context.
