Live Blind
The term “live blind” is used in poker, usually in Texas hold ‘em, to refer to a player who places a mandatory bet (blind) in the current hand, but stays in the game to see the next community cards, even if they could fold at that stage.
Usually, when a player places a blind (small or big), they should place a bet, even if they have a weak hand. However, a “live blind” has the right to look at the community cards, despite the mandatory bets. This gives them extra information about the state of the game and could impact their decisions in the future.
The idea of a “live blind” can be used in friendly home games or in some tournaments where the rules may be more flexible. In official casinos and the majority of poker tournaments, players placing blinds usually need to either place a bet or discard their hand, without the possibility of seeing the community cards for free.
