Overcall
The term “overcall” in poker means a situation where a player calls after another player has already placed a bet (or raised) in the current betting round. In other words, an overcall is a call (matching a bet) after someone else has already placed a bet.
There can be various reasons and motivations for an overcall. For example, a player may believe that they have a strong enough hand to keep playing and win the pot. Or they can decide to overcall in an attempt to bluff and force their opponent to place more bets in future. An overcall can also be used to control the size of the pot or to change the dynamic of the game.
It's important to bear in mind that an overcall requires you to assess the current gaming situation, the strength of your hand, your opponents' style of play, and other factors. Incorrect use of an overcall may lead to loss of chips and money in poker.
