Rank
In the context of poker and card games, “rank” usually refers to the number or letter on the playing cards. The rank of a card indicates its value in the game. A standard deck of cards contains 52 cards, and the rank is indicated by numbers from 2 (two) to 10 (ten), as well as the letters J (jack), Q (queen), K (king), and A (ace).
In poker, Texas hold ‘em, and many other card games, the rank of a card affects the strength of the hand and determines what combination of cards will be strongest. For example, a combination of two kings (KK) is considered to be stronger than a combination of two jacks (JJ).
When evaluating the strength of a hand and determining the winner of the round, players take into account the rank of the cards in their hands and on the board (the community cards). For example, when comparing two flushes (hands made up of five cards of the same suit), the player with the highest card of this suit (the card with the highest rank) will win.
It’s important to know and be able to take into account the value of cards when making decisions in poker, as this impacts your game strategy and your ability to determine which hand will be stronger in a specific situation.
