Short stack
The term “short stack” in poker refers to a situation where a player has the least number of chips of all the players at the table. The player with a short stack has a limited number of chips and is usually in a vulnerable position, as their betting is restricted and they can easily be eliminated from the round.
A short stack can occur for several reasons, for example, due to unlucky bets, a loss, or mistakes in strategy. Players with a short stack can run into the problem of their actions becoming predictable, and their opponents can use this to their advantage.
A short stack strategy may include playing more aggressively and taking part in all possible profitable situations to increase the stack, or, conversely, playing more cautiously and avoiding risky situations to protect your last chips and wait for a good opportunity.
Players with a short stack may also use the “short stack shoving” concept, which means going all-in for the purpose of increasing the size of the pot and forcing their opponents to make difficult decisions.
It’s important to note that playing with a short stack requires paying extra attention to the dynamic at the table and being able to adapt quickly to the changing situation.
