Showdown
In the context of poker, the term “reveal” or “showdown” means the stage of the hand during which players reveal their cards to determine who has won the game. The reveal happens after all the betting rounds are over (the flop, turn, and river), when the remaining players who have not folded reveal their hands to find out who has the best cards.
Main features of the reveal:
The betting hand has ended: After the final round of betting on the river is over, if two or more players remain in the game, they move on to the reveal phase.
Revealing the cards: One by one, the players show their cards. This begins with the player who took the last active turn (a bet or a raise) in the final round of betting and continues clockwise.
Winner of the hand: After the cards have been shown, the dealer or software determines which hand is the strongest. The player with the strongest hand wins the pot.
Distributing the pot: The winner of the hand receives all the chips in the pot.
The reveal is a key moment in the game, as this is the moment that determines who has won this hand. Players can also use information about which cards their opponents showed for analysis and to improve their strategy for future hands.
